Today’s word is: dinner.

One-dish chicken bake. Today I was very thankful my hubs made dinner. Work made my feet hurt.

Here is where I was this morning at 10am.

We made guesses about how many Super Bowl references our pastor was going to make. I guessed 4. Close, but it was 3. And our assistant pastor wore a Giants shirt. Sacrilege.

ok, I’m a day late, but better late than never. Day 4′s word is “a stranger”. I wasn’t sure what to do with this one, and I felt really weird being a creeper and taking a picture of a stranger.

So, instead…

I photographed the words “a stranger”.

It’s funny, even though I thought it would be weird to intentionally take a photo of a stranger, I semi-intentionally took this photo of 2 complete strangers a couple of years ago, and it’s one of my favorite photos.

I wish I knew who this was so I could give them a copy. I would love to have a picture of Jay proposing.

I decided to do a picture of the hands of a clock. This is one of my favorite birthday presents ever, my cuckoo clock.

With this project, you take the inspiration for the day and run with it. The first thing I thought of when I read ‘words’ was recipes. I’ve been really into trying out new recipes lately. I used to not enjoy cooking or baking and never wanted to experiment with new recipes. Just this past year, I’ve gotten much more excited about making food. It’s funny, my mom used to try to teach me about cooking, but I wanted to be all independent and free-spirited and refused to indulge in her “kitchen classes”. I think my mantra was “I’ll learn to cook when my brothers learn to cook”. Well, I’m glad I didn’t stick to that, or I probably still wouldn’t know how to do anything in the kitchen.

So today’s picture of “words” is one of my favorite cookbooks::

I made this for Jay on our four year dating anniversary. It’s a notebook with our favorite recipes in it. I started out with some of our favorites from growing up. I’m constantly adding new “make-again” recipes to it. Anytime I make something new, Jay and I decide if it makes the cut to be a ‘make-again” and earn a place in the handmade cookbook. Since I discovered pinterest & skinnytaste, the cookbook has received a lot of new additions!

The recipe featured is for homemade chai concentrate. (here’s the recipe). Delish.

I’m totally jumping on the bandwagon here. My bff & her sister both posted about this photo challenge for February, and I thought it would be fun to do also. Each day is a new word/theme, and you have to take a picture of that and post about it! I’m a day behind, so today will be two posts. Let’s see if I can do every day this month! This February is also a Leap Year, so I’m excited about that. I love leap years!

Day 1: Your view today (well, yesterday)

Yesterday I volunteered at the Philadelphia Auto Showwith work and got a free ticket as a thank you. The hubs was very excited about that! It was fun walking around & seeing Jay drool over cars. We got to take a (very uneventful) ride in the new Prius Highlander & sat in some pick-up trucks that I had to take a running leap into. Overall, a fun time.

Each year we go to the restaurant Jay took me to after he proposed to celebrate. We went this past Friday and had fun reminiscing about the night he proposed. (I almost canceled on him that evening because I wasn’t feeling all that great.)

Hubs, thanks for teaching me about the awesomeness that is merino wool socks, coercing me into running a marathon, rubbing my feet after a long day at work, and taking Ellie out when it’s dark and cold because I get spooked too easily. Love ya!

My widdle brudder (translation: little brother), Russ, proposed to his girlfriend, Aimee, over Christmas break. Congrats!

It is time for us to play catch-up. We have some family sessions and some photos from our vacations we are looking forward to sharing with you.

First up is Paige’s first birthday photos. We met Jimmy & Esther at church and were so excited to photograph their almost-one-year-old daughter, Paige. Brace yourself, because she is ADORABLE!
