Loren + Mike’s Engagement

Kerith’s family and Loren’s family have been friends forever. Last year, we did this shoot of Loren’s nieces and nephew. And our wedding reception (and here) was even in her parents’ backyard. Plus they’re a pretty awesome couple, so when they asked us to photograph their wedding this August, we were thrilled. A few weeks ago we met up with them at Curtis Arboretum for their engagement session and then headed back to her parents’ house for a few photos in their beautiful backyard. We enjoyed going back to their backyard for the first time since our wedding, and we go some really awesome shots!

Jen & Bryan’s Engagement Session

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to blog about this session! We shot Jen & Bryan’s engagement session at the Fairmount Water Works and Philadelphia Museum of Art. They were a really fun couple, and we had a lot of fun hanging out with them. They made awesome use of props and even brought swing dancing shoes and showed off a few dance moves for us. We’re really excited to show you this session, and even more excited to be shooting their wedding in only four short weeks! Congrats, you guys!

Ok, so I have to admit that I kind of stole the idea for this next shot from a photographer whose blog I stalk, Caroline Tran. If anyone is in the Los Angeles area and looking for a photographer, she comes highly recommended.

Ashley & Tom’s Engagement Session

Ashley and Tom met in 2009 at a 5K in West Fairmount Park in Philadelphia. We shot their engagement session in Fairmount Park on a cold Sunday in March. They both braved the cold without their coats, and we got some really great photos. Who knew that there is a whispering bench in Fairmount Park? I didn’t, but we got some pretty awesome photos there.

Jessica & Jason’s Engagement Session

Jessica and Jason are getting married in Grand Cayman next May, and unfortunately, we will not be traveling with them to photograph their wedding. We had a great time shooting their engagement pictures in Wissahickon Valley Park though. They were one of the more adventuresome couples we have photographed and were even willing to climb through the woods to get some awesome pictures. We are very happy for you both and wish you the best in your upcoming marriage!

Lauren & Derek’s Engagement Session

Lauren and Derek were high school sweethearts and have been together for over ten years! They went to Central- Kerith’s alma mater (go Lancers!) We had the opportunity to shoot their engagement session on a beautiful day earlier this fall in Fairmount Park near the Philadelphia Museum of Art. We usually ask couples to bring “props,” or things that represent them to use in pictures, and Lauren and Derek were great at this–Boggle, several puzzle cubes, their wedding invitation, and a metal “Q” for Derek’s last name (it’s actually a “2…”) We had a great time working with an awesome couple are looking forward to their wedding next weekend! Congrats!

The card on the left was in the bouquet of flowers that Derek brought to Lauren's office when he proposed.

We had AMAZING weather for this shoot!

There were tons of people around since it was a Saturday morning, but we managed to catch this shot without anyone else in the photo!

As we were taking these, a crew team was doing laps up and down the Rocky Steps, so we had to dodge the runners.

Getting Married: Jeanny & Abe

With most of our brides and grooms. we meet them months before the wedding. The consultation usually takes place at a coffee shop or a park. This couple was different because we did not get to meet them in person until a week before the wedding. They are both in the Navy, so Abe was in Hawaii & Jeanny was stationed in Qatar. They are getting married TOMORROW (!) and we shot their engagement session last week. We did the shoot at Valley Green Inn, in Wissahicken Valley Park. It was a gorgeous day and we had a blast. They are such a fun couple! Congrats you two. We’re looking forward to tomorrow!

Cheryl & Skye’s Engagement Session

We shot Cheryl & Skye’s engagement photos down at Penn’s Landing, along the Delaware River in Philly. While we were down at Penn’s Landing, we found a crew working on the deck of a big boat and Skye asked if we could go aboard and take some pictures. They let us, and it made for some really great shots! After wandering around Penn’s Landing, we headed up to Franklin Square (a park in the Northeast part of Center City with a carousel) to finish of the shoot. We are excited to shoot Cheryl & Skye’s wedding this weekend! Congrats!

Emily & Shaun’s Engagement Session

We shot Emily & Shaun’s engagement session a few weeks ago, and I will be shooting their wedding next weekend at Renewal Presbyterian Church in West Philly! For their session, we started out in Clark Park and worked our way westward down Baltimore Ave. (also in West Philly). We ended the session in the garden owned by the Mariposa Co-op. We had a lot of fun shooting and are very excited for your wedding!

Gabi & Jason’s Engagement Session

We put up a preview photo a while back for Gabi & Jason’s engagement session. Kerith and I have been friends with Gabi since her freshman year of college, so we were both very excited when she and Jason asked us to photograph her wedding in July. For their engagement session, we went to Valley Forge National Park, about a half hour outside of Philly. We had a great time with the shoot and are looking forward to their wedding in North Jersey in six weeks!

I’ve also been trying to shoot a little more on film lately. Four of the pictures in this post are on film. Can you figure out which ones?

Kerith took this one, and I think it's my favorite from the session.

I love this shot! Jay took this with our film camera at our last engagement shoot with Jason & Gabi. This is straight from the camera, no re-touching done!! Aren’t they the sweetest couple?!?
